What Dumpster Size Is Right for Me?
How do you determine the right dumpster size for your particular job? The easiest way is to contact Greenville Dumpster Rental and describe your project to a representative. We’ve been in the business long enough to know what dumpster size works best for any of the various types of projects our customers tackle. But, if you’re phone-phobic, there are some basic guidelines that can give you a general idea of what size you should choose:
If you need to get rid of any one type of heavy debris, such as concrete or bricks, you’ll want to go with a 10 yard dumpster. This size is earmarked for heavy materials, because such debris can only be transported in this specific quantity. If you attempted to fill a larger dumpster with this material, it would be too heavy for our trucks to transport safely.
If you’re dealing with other debris types, you’ll want to consider how much debris you expect to have over the course of your project. If you believe you’ll end up with more than 2 tons of debris, a 10 yard dumpster will be too small. You’ll need to choose between our 15, 20, or 30 yard sizes.
Consider how much space your items take up. For example, say you’re cleaning out a relative’s home and you have a lot of bulky items like major appliances and furniture. A 15 or 20 yard dumpster would likely fill up before you finished the cleanup, so you’d want to opt for a 30 yard. *Note that there are special regulations regarding the safe disposal of refrigerated appliances, like refrigerators, freezers, and anything else that involves coolants. If you have refrigerated appliances to get rid of, alert your customer service representative when you rent a dumpster. They’ll be able to determine whether or not the hauler can accept such items.
If you’re looking at a mid-level project where you’ll have smaller items to dispose of, a 15 or 20 yard dumpster is likely right for you. For example, if you’re cleaning out your basement or garage and have only boxes of small-to-medium sized junk, either of these sizes would fit the bill.
Unless you’re planning a major renovation of your entire home, a 20 yard dumpster would be appropriate to deal with the waste generated by most common home improvement projects.
